Vaifelle was born and raised in Old Sharlayan. Her father was a venerated instructor at the Studium, her mother a respected researcher at Labyrinthos. Meanwhile, Vai was merely tolerated. Always clever and intelligent, she sometimes rubbed people the wrong way with her snarky attitude. More often than not, her mouth would get out in front of her brain when interacting with others and getting her into trouble with fellow students, faculty, and other positions of authority.Through her years on the island and during her studies, she had a small few that she could consider friends. Keenly aware of her interpersonal issues, she instead withdrew and focused on her studies to sate her thirst for knowledge. Her isolation from others led to her following pursuits of her own such as art, writing, and a love of Triple Triad. It was that love that lead to her friendship with Panthanaea. That friendship lead to some of Vai's favorite years, as well as several self discoveries and personal growth. Still, when Panthanaea returned to Eorzea, Vai once again retreated in on herself.For several years, she resumed her isolated lifestyle. It was only at the behest of her parents that she finally made her way to Eorzea. After landing in Limsa Lominsa, she was reunited with her old friend and began her employ at the Cat-Fe, as much to assist her friend as it was to try and draw herself out of her shell.
